Extraction of Road Networks Using Pan-Sharpened Multispectral and Panchromatic QuickBird Images

چکیده
Traditional multispectral classification based road extraction methods separate roads from other ground features according to spectral characteristics of individual pixels. To take use of the spatial properties of high-resolution satellite images, in this paper we integrate spectral information from the multispectral (MS) image with spatial information from the panchromatic (Pan) image for road extraction through a pan-sharpening technique and an edge-aided reclassification algorithm. First, the low-resolution MS image is fused with the high-resolution Pan image. Then, the pan-sharpened image is classified to identify the road class that may include non-road objects. The classified roads are subsequently segmented and re-classified using the directional texture information from the classified road image and the edge information from the

Multi-resolution and multi-spectral image fusion for urban object extraction
A new approach for object extraction from high-resolution satellite images is presented in this paper. The new approach integrates image fusion, multi-spectral classification, feature extraction and feature segmentation into the object extraction of high-resolution satellite images. Both spectral information from multispectral (MS) images and spatial information from panchromatic (Pan) images a...
متن کاملFusion of Panchromatic and Multispectral Images Using Non Subsampled Contourlet Transform and FFT Based Spectral Histogram (RESEARCH NOTE)
Image fusion is a method for obtaining a highly informative image by merging the relative information of an object obtained from two or more image sources of the same scene. The satellite cameras give a single band panchromatic (PAN) image with high spatial information and multispectral (MS) image with more spectral information. The problem exists today is either PAN or MS image is available fr...
متن کاملMoving Vehicle Detection Using a Single Set of Quickbird Imagery — an Initial Study
Moving vehicle detection has become increasingly important in transportation management and road infrastructure development. State-of-the-art moving vehicle detection techniques require multi-frame images or at least a stereo pair of aerial photos for moving information extraction. This paper presents a new technique to detect moving vehicles using just one single set of QuickBird imagery, inst...
متن کاملIncreasing Geometric Resolution of Data Supplied by Quickbird Multispectral Sensors
On board of Quickbird satellite two types of sensors are present: panchromatic and multispectral. The first acquires earth images within spectral range 0.405 μm – 1.053 μm; the second acquires simultaneously four images of the same scene, each of them within shorter range of spectrum (Blue, Green, Red, Near-Infrared). Panchromatic images present geometric resolution 0.60 m while multispectral o...
متن کاملSimulation of Pan-sharpening Using Hyperspectral Data to Evaluate the Method and Band Combinations
ABSTRACT: This study proposes a framework for simulating pan-sharpening using hyperspectral data in order to evaluate pan-sharpening methods and band combinations of panchromatic and multispectral data. This framework was applied to two pan-sharpening methods (block-SVR, Gram-Schmidt spectral sharpening) to characterize the spectral and spatial qualities of pan-sharpened images. Panchromatic im...
